Bruno's Italian Taste is a counter-service Italian restaurant in SoMa run by chef Fabio Brunocilla, who was born in Cosenza, in Calabria, and grew up cooking alongside his mother and aunts. He trained through a professional pizza course at Scuola Italiana Pizza and studied leavening techniques with master baker Piergiorgio Giorilli before bringing the restaurant to San Francisco in 2023 with his wife, Marcella.
The kitchen makes its own pasta, bread, and desserts, and builds its menu around imported Italian ingredients sourced directly from small, family-run producers in Italy. Margherita pizza comes straight from the oven, pappardelle is tossed to order, and tiramisu rounds out the menu. The space keeps things casual with an order-at-the-counter setup, neon signage, and paper placemats printed with facts about Italy — more neighborhood spot than special-occasion destination.
