The Spot
El Quetzal takes its name from the quetzal bird, a symbol of freedom and wealth in ancient Mexico, and runs as a family restaurant on Beacon Ave S in Seattle's Greater Duwamish neighborhood. Juan's marinade anchors the tacos de pescado, made with local seasonal fish served in soft flour tortillas with the restaurant's own pickled vegetables, sauce, and cheese.

The menu also includes enchiladas verdes filled with shredded chicken in green tomatillo sauce, enchiladas de mole, carne asada, pozole, and chile relleno, with a special plates section that rotates regularly. Dishes come finished in the classic style — sour cream, Cotija cheese, fresh onions.

El Quetzal also caters events and makes its space available for private parties of up to 40.
