Mama Grande's Café takes its name from chef Alex García's mother, remembered as a woman who fed neighbors and made every gathering feel like home. García, who owns and runs the café, built the Ravenna spot around that memory, folding her sense of hospitality into a brunch menu.
The kitchen covers familiar brunch ground with a few specific turns: huevos rancheros with house-made chorizo, chilaquiles simmered in salsa roja, and an avocado toast finished with burrata and eggs. The benedict section includes a crab meat version alongside the classic and a portobello take, while pancakes and French toast get their own space, from lemon ricotta pancakes to Bananas Foster French toast. Soups, sandwiches, and salads — a French dip, a salmon BLT, a wedge salad — round things out.
Since opening, it's built a reputation around the neighborhood for attentive service and a welcoming, community-driven feel, the kind of place regulars come back to.
