Catania opened in La Jolla in 2015 as part of Whisknladle Hospitality, serving coastal Italian food from the third floor of its Girard Avenue building, with dining rooms and a patio that look out over the Pacific.
The kitchen turns out handmade pasta and wood-fired pizza alongside dishes like branzino, duck, arancini, focaccia, and scallops, with gelato closing things out. A full bar pours its own lineup of signature cocktails, including a Hugo Spritz, an Italian Mule, and a mezcal-based Vigore. The space also handles private events, with buyout options for groups of up to 125.
Michelin has selected Catania for its San Diego guide in both 2025 and 2026.
