The restaurant has earned a Michelin Bib Gourmand in both the 2024 and 2025 Washington DC guides. Its chef was named a James Beard Award semifinalist and finalist for Best Chef in the Mid-Atlantic region in 2025. Washingtonian included Queen's English on its 2025 best-of list, and The Infatuation gave it an 8/10.

Queen’s English
Queen's English calls itself Cantonese but the real subject is proximity. The room runs like a living room with the seams showing — tables close enough that self-control becomes part of the meal, because the plate next to you will look better than what you ordered. That's by design. The menu is built for sharing, and the kitchen makes sharing feel like the whole point of eating out.
The truffle dumplings are the thing worth guarding with your fork. Chili braised beef tongue and daikon fritters do the rest of the work, food confident enough in its own execution that it doesn't need to announce itself as anything more than very good Cantonese cooking done at close range. Nothing here is precious. It doesn't need to be.
A Bib Gourmand in consecutive years and back-to-back Best Chef recognition from the James Beard Foundation, semifinalist then finalist, confirm what the room already tells you: this is a kitchen operating well above its price point, consistently, not on a hot streak. Local coverage has caught on too. Go hungry, and go with people you don't mind fighting over the last dumpling.
