Purple Patch opened in 2015 as one of the first Filipino restaurants in Washington, D.C., and has held its ground in Mount Pleasant ever since. It's Filipino owned and operated, with Chef/Owner Patrice Cleary running a kitchen that blends Filipino classics with American fare.
The house-turned-restaurant spreads across a downstairs dining room, a main bar, the upstairs Pantry, an outdoor patio, and Lola's Lounge. Lumpia and adobo are the dishes regulars mention first, with escabeche, fried red snapper, and a bread pudding that shows up often in reviewer notes rounding out the table. For groups, the restaurant also runs Kamayan feasts, the traditional Filipino hand-eating spread.
Purple Patch appears on Eater's essential list for the city.
