Purple Patch sits below street level in a pre-war building, and it doesn't try to be anything but what it is: a homey Filipino kitchen with a mom-and-pop feel that happens to run one of the city's best brunch menus. The eggplant adobo bowl and the tofu hash prove the vegetable-forward plates get the same care as the pork.
