The Spot
Chicano Nuevo began as a pop-up before settling into a permanent space, where Chef Abraham Nuñez runs a tasting menu built around masa. The six-course menu moves through tamales, tostadas, and tacos, alongside caviar, house salsas, and Baja oysters dressed in a spicy mignonette.

The signature dish is a fried basa fillet fish taco, Baja California-style, piled with purple cabbage and pickled onion on a blue corn tortilla hand-rolled shortly before it reaches the table. The tamale negro pairs beef tongue with a squid-ink masa, built up with cheese and a Baja-style crema.

Beyond the tasting menu, the bar pours craft cocktails with a spicy kick, and the restaurant has built a following as a neighborhood gathering spot, known for the easy rapport between its bartenders and its regulars.
