Omakase Yume runs a single six-seat counter on Washington Blvd in the West Loop, seating diners three times each night for a 16-course omakase from Chef Sangtae Park. Park trained in Japanese cuisine in his native Busan, South Korea, before moving to the Chicago area, where he worked as sous chef helping open Mirai and Japonais. He went on to run his own restaurants — Badaya in Highland Park for six years and Izakaya Yume in Niles for seven — before opening Omakase Yume.
The format stays tight: one seating, one counter, one chef working through the full course arc, with an optional wine and sake pairing alongside the tasting.
Michelin awarded Omakase Yume one star in 2019, 2021, and 2023, and has kept it on the Selected list in 2024 and 2025. The restaurant is part of H.I.S. Hospitality Group.
