The Spot
Micklethwait Craft Meats has been smoking Central Texas barbecue since 2012, when it started as a trailer operation on Austin's east side. After twelve years running out of that setup, the operation moved two miles east into a brick-and-mortar home — a former church on Tanney St. that the team renovated into its current space.

The new building keeps indoor seating and adds an outdoor dining area shaded by native pecan trees. The kitchen turns out oak-smoked meats, a rotating lineup of specialty sides, and fresh-made desserts, and the operation also runs a full catering arm for larger events. The place has built a devoted local following over its run in East Austin.
