Huli Sue's BBQ & Grill sets up inside downtown Asheville's historic Grove Arcade, run by Lisa and Ben, who spent 15 years in Waimea on Hawaii's Big Island before bringing that flavor to the Blue Ridge Mountains. The menu pairs Texas-style barbecue with Hawaiian-inspired dishes: brisket alongside poke bowls, Cuban sandwiches, fish tacos, macaroni salad, and onion rings, with banana cream pie and a mai tai covering dessert and drinks.
The concept — smoked meat sharing a menu with fresh fish and island cocktails — has built a loyal following downtown, drawing both regulars and visitors working the spot into a day of touring Asheville.
