Golden Hour has the kind of reputation that gets earned house by house, plate by plate: locals return, out-of-towners find it in the River Arts District and leave calling it the best meal of the trip. The room reads as genuine rather than staged, the kind of place that built its following on repeat visits instead of a single splashy opening.

The praise lands on fundamentals — food that tastes like someone cares, service that keeps pace, prices that don't punish you for coming back. That's a harder trick than it sounds, especially in a neighborhood full of places coasting on foot traffic and gallery spillover. Golden Hour earns its crowd instead of just catching it.

The one crack is consistency. Enough recent visits have come back uneven that it keeps this short of the top tier — a kitchen capable of great nights that hasn't fully locked in why some nights aren't.

Michelin noticed anyway, naming it a 2025 selection. That's confirmation, not the case. The case is a neighborhood restaurant doing real work, worth the trip even on an off night.
