The Spot
Toki Underground has been serving ramen out of a small, out-of-the-way space on H Street NE since 2011. The menu centers on bowls like the Toki Classic Ramen, Mala Garlic Tonkotsu, Tokyo Curry Ramen, Mushroom Shio, and Kimchi Ramen, alongside buns and dumplings, with vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options built in. Craft cocktails and Japanese beer round out the drink list.

Regulars point to the shredded pork, soft egg, and pickles as the details that hold a bowl together, and the tight, hidden-away room has become part of the draw rather than a drawback.

Toki Underground has held a Michelin Bib Gourmand across multiple recent Washington DC guides, including 2021, 2022, 2024, and 2025.
