The Spot
Fraiche DC sits in Columbia Heights' historic theater district, in a room finished with warm gold walls, burgundy banquettes, and copper light. Chef Matt Price built an online following before opening the restaurant under his Make It Happen Hospitality Group.

The menu moves between Cajun, Caribbean, Southern American, and French technique. Golden Gate Noodles + Lamb — Bay Area–style garlic noodles topped with seasoned lamb chops — is the restaurant's most requested dish. Mambo Fried Snapper arrives whole and fried, finished with Mambo sauce and escovitch salad. Bayou Gumbo works a dark roux around crab, shrimp, and andouille sausage, and French Quarter Risotto pairs seared salmon with a Cajun-spiced jambalaya risotto. Oxtail Meatballs and a butterscotch bread pudding round out the list.

Diners point to the oxtail dishes and the service as regular highlights, alongside the room's upscale feel.
