Our Take

Valley treats breakfast as an occasion, not a pit stop. The room draws praise for the kind of atmosphere that makes a morning feel earned, and the service keeps pace with it — attentive without hovering, the sort of thing that turns a simple morning meal into an actual outing. The kitchen works with real intent here, not just churning out standard fare dressed up for the price point.

A few diners have called it overpriced, and a handful found the food mediocre against the setting's promise. Those complaints exist, but they're the minority voice against a much louder consensus: the food is good, the experience feels authentic, and people leave saying it was worth it.

The recognition backs the argument. A Bib Gourmand nod in Michelin's 2026 guide points the same direction. Valley isn't reinventing breakfast. It's doing it with more care than the category usually gets, and that's enough to make it the stop worth making in Sonoma.

The Spot
Valley combines three functions in one space in downtown Sonoma: a full-service restaurant, a wine bar, and a bottle shop. The bottle shop side includes a running bottle club and retail sales, so browsing the shelves is part of the visit alongside eating.

The menu moves through the day rather than sticking to one mode — coffee and pastries, a weekday lunch menu, weekend brunch, and a separate dinner menu all rotate through the same room.

Michelin awarded Valley a Bib Gourmand in its 2026 Wine Country guide, and Sonoma Magazine named it among the city's best restaurants in 2025. It's developed a reputation locally for a casual, upscale feel and attentive service.
