The Gold Mirror has been a fixture of the Sunset/Parkside corridor since the 1960s, built around the kind of old-school Italian cooking that doesn't chase trends. A recent two-year renovation stripped out the old interior and replaced it with a glowing marble-topped bar, oversized chandeliers, and statuettes, but the restaurant's identity — white tablecloths, servers in vests and ties, red sauce and melted cheese in generous portions — carried through unchanged.
The menu runs through familiar Italian-American staples: calamari fritti and polpette alla Siciliana to start, then lasagna Bolognese, rigatoni al ragù Bolognese, pappardelle with duck ragu, veal chops alla griglia, and chicken Parmigiana. Tiramisu and cannoli close things out. It's a la carte fine dining, available for dine-in or takeout.
The dining room has kept generations of regulars coming back for decades, and it still fills up on a regular basis.
