Our Take

Clancy's has spent decades doing Uptown New Orleans dining the way it's supposed to be done: a neighborhood restaurant that treats service as seriously as the food, and has for long enough that the industry noticed. A James Beard semifinalist nod for service back in 2012 isn't a fluke. That kind of recognition only comes from consistency, night after night, at a level most restaurants never establish, let alone maintain.

That consistency is why Clancy's is still showing up on the city's short lists more than a decade later, and why Michelin selected it in 2025. Restaurants coast on old reputations all the time in this city; Clancy's earning fresh recognition after that long a run is the opposite of coasting.

This is what a serious neighborhood restaurant looks like when it refuses to let up. Uptown is lucky to have it.

The Spot
Clancy's occupies a house on Annunciation Street in Uptown New Orleans, where it has run as a white-tablecloth, à la carte dining room known around the city as a classic institution.

The menu leans on familiar New Orleans staples — oysters, brie, sweetbreads, softshell crab, and a well-known pork chop appear alongside salads and a full slate of entrees, brought to the table by a career waitstaff.

Clancy's was named to the Michelin Guide's Selected list in 2025 and appeared on both NOLA.com/Times-Picayune's and Where NOLA Eats' citywide best-of lists that year. The James Beard Foundation named it a semifinalist for Outstanding Service in 2012.
