Shiver's BBQ has been a fixture in Homestead for more than six decades, housed in a log cabin-style building with a chimney out front. There's no dining room to speak of — orders go through a takeout window, food comes out through a hole in the wall from the kitchen, and the handful of benches outside fill up fast on weekends.
The format is no-frills: metal camp plates, messy barbecue eaten with your hands alongside whoever else is waiting. Ribs are a mainstay, burnt ends come out tender, and the corn souffle has built its own following among regulars. The draw here isn't polish — it's the decades of history and the straightforward way the food gets served.
