The Spot
The Berghoff has operated in the Chicago Loop as a 100% family-owned and family-operated restaurant for more than 125 years, with staff members and diners alike returning across multiple generations. The menu covers classic German and contemporary American dishes, with sauerbraten, veal, bavarian pretzels, creamed spinach, and rye bread among the regulars, alongside apple strudel and black forest cake for dessert. A reuben sandwich and root beer also show up on the tables.

The Berghoff Bar and Adams Street Brewery sit alongside the main dining room, pouring in-house brewed beer along with cocktails and wine.

The James Beard Foundation recognized The Berghoff with an America's Classics award in 1999, honoring it as one of the country's enduring, locally cherished restaurants.
