Our Take

Elske means "to love" in Danish, and the restaurant earns the name the quiet way. Anna and David Posey run a West Loop dining room where Scandinavian restraint meets Midwestern warmth — a tasting menu without pomp, a courtyard fire, desserts that draw their own Beard nominations because Anna is a pastry chef of national rank.

The cooking is spare on purpose: a few elements, each one necessary. It's the least showy starred kitchen in a neighborhood full of loud ones, and repeat diners tend to become lifers.

The Spot
Elske sits in the Fulton Market District, serving American cooking through a tasting menu format. Reviewers consistently point to duck liver, agnolotti, smoked sturgeon, and endive as menu fixtures, with aged gouda, black beans, and fries showing up alongside them, and sorbet and ice cream anchoring the dessert side.

Michelin has awarded Elske one star in 2018, 2021, 2024, and 2025. The James Beard Foundation named it a finalist for Best Chef in both 2018 and 2019, a finalist for Outstanding Pastry Chef in 2024, and a semifinalist for Outstanding Wine Program in 2025. The Infatuation scored the restaurant a 9 out of 10.
