Our Take

Class Act builds its tasting menu around movement — three rooms over the course of a meal, ending in the restaurant's own speakeasy, Nightcap. That structure could easily read as gimmick, but the menu, called Growing Up, gives it a reason to exist. Each room seems to mark a different chapter of the chef's own history, and the food follows: blackened seafood that nods to a specific upbringing, dim sum technique, the loose energy of a taco truck. The dishes don't feel like influences borrowed for effect. They feel personal, plated with real technical control behind them.

That's the case for the place — a chef translating a specific life into a tasting menu without losing the through-line, and doing it with enough discipline that the concept never overwhelms the cooking. The room changes don't slow the meal down; they give it shape.

A James Beard Emerging Chef semifinalist nod backs up what's already obvious at the table: this is someone worth watching early, before the rest of the city catches up. Book it while it's still a discovery instead of a reservation fight.

The Spot
Class Act seats guests at a communal table for an avant-garde tasting menu led by Executive Chef Nicolai Mlodinow. Each course pairs bold flavor with storytelling, and diners choose from cocktail, wine, or spirit-free pairings.

The tasting menu rotates seasonally — one iteration devotes every course to a single ingredient explored from multiple angles — alongside an a la carte "Off Script" menu of shareable plates or a personalized three-course chef's tasting.

A private-events program centers on the restaurant's chef's table, combining a multi-course tasting with a connected speakeasy nightcap. Mlodinow was named a 2026 James Beard Foundation Semifinalist for Emerging Chef.
