Kasama operates as two restaurants inside one room. By day it's counter service — a bakery and cafe serving pastries and a daytime menu, Wednesday through Sunday. At night, Thursday through Sunday, the same space converts to reservation-only fine dining built around a Filipino-inspired tasting menu, with wine and non-alcoholic pairings offered alongside it.
The recognition has stacked up quickly. Michelin awarded Kasama one star in 2021, held it through 2023 and 2024, then upgraded it to two stars in 2025. The James Beard Foundation named the restaurant a Best New Restaurant finalist in 2022, then Best Chef: Great Lakes winner in 2023, and included it among Outstanding Restaurant semifinalists for 2026.
Kasama also appeared on North America's 50 Best Restaurants list in 2025 and Robb Report's Best New Restaurants in 2026, with StarChefs naming the team Rising Stars back in 2021. Eater, The Infatuation, and Time Out Chicago have each featured it among their best-of coverage.
