Two pieces of Chicago lore are tied to the place: the Curse on the Cubs, and the diner-counter energy that inspired Saturday Night Live's "Cheezborger! Cheezborger! Cheezborger! No fries, cheeps! No Pepsi, Coke!" sketch.
The menu runs on cheeseburgers — the standard Cheezborger, plus Double, Triple, and Homerun versions stacked with more patties.
The tavern is still run by Sam and the Sianis family, carrying the tradition across Billy Goat's Chicagoland locations, with this one set on the lower level of Michigan Avenue.
