The Southern Gentleman occupies the top floor of the Buckhead Village District, at the corner of Buckhead Avenue and Peachtree Road. Co-owner Chris Hadermann built the concept around a fresh, modern take on traditional Southern dishes made with locally sourced ingredients, in a room designed by New York firm Lacina Heitler — seersucker window treatments, tufted camel leather booths, white marble counters, vaulted ceilings, herringbone floors, and an oversized Mark Twain portrait commissioned from a local artist. "We want this to feel like stepping into our home," Hadermann has said of the design.
The bar leans into classic Southern cocktails — barrel-aged drinks, bottled libations, drafts, New World wines — with a mint julep as the house specialty. Whiskey is the other pillar: more than 120 bourbons and ryes anchor a list that also runs through Irish, Japanese, Taiwanese, Canadian, and Scotch whiskies, including limited bottlings from newer Southeastern distillers.
Hushpuppies and pork belly have built a following among regulars, alongside a reputation for attentive service and a clean, upscale room that draws both weekend brunch crowds and larger group gatherings.
