The Spot
Mazi takes its name from the Greek word for "together," and builds its New American menu around Greek and Mediterranean flavors and ingredients. The K Street NW dining room aims for an intimate, elegant feel, with business casual attire the norm, and the menu runs seasonal alongside a set of contemporary regulars, with vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options built in throughout.

On the plate, that means pork souvlaki and Greek salad next to shrimp tempura and steak — Mediterranean references sitting comfortably alongside more straightforward New American dishes. A bar program of hand-crafted cocktails, local beers, and a curated wine list is built to pair with the food rather than stand apart from it.

The restaurant's chef has drawn sustained attention from the James Beard Foundation, with nominations spanning Rising Star Chef of the Year (2008–2010), Best Chef (finalist in 2011 and 2012, winner in 2013), and Outstanding Chef (2015), plus Outstanding Service nods (2014–2016), an Outstanding Wine Program nomination (2017), and Outstanding Restaurant semifinalist recognition in 2018, 2019, and 2020.
