Ice 'N' Slice takes its name from two of its core offerings — ice cream and pizza — but the menu runs well beyond both. Owner Semret Asfaw opened the Petworth takeout spot in August 2022 after operating Heat Da Spot Cafe nearby for several years, bringing an Ethiopian-inflected menu to a neighborhood pizza format.
The pizzas carry Ethiopian toppings — the Addis Ababa Vegetarian Pizza is built on cabbage, lentils, chickpeas, spinach, and a tomato base, while the Doro Wat Pizza applies the same idea to the classic Ethiopian chicken stew. Alongside them: a Kitfo Wrap made with grass-fed ground beef marinated with garlic, onion, spinach, and feta; lentil samosas; mitmita-spiced fries; and a grilled Chicken Steak sub. Smoothies are made with real fruit and no dairy, in flavors like mango, mixed berries, and a spinach-ginger-celery green blend.
The restaurant offers dine-in, pickup, and delivery, and was included in Washingtonian's restaurant coverage.
