Willow Wood Market Cafe opened in Graton in 1995, when Matthew Greenbaum left the restaurant trade in Berkeley to open a place of his own. It's part cafe, part general store: an old-fashioned soda fountain sits at the front, with shelves of local food items, wines, and souvenirs filling out the rest of the room.
The kitchen serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, kid-friendly and casual, with a patio that's been recently remodeled. Willow Wood is sister to Underwood, the restaurant across the street.
Over the decades it's become the informal gathering spot and town center for Graton, drawing both locals and travelers passing through Sonoma County. Regulars keep coming back for the homemade cooking and the easy, unpretentious atmosphere.
