Lark opened in 2003 and moved into its current Capitol Hill space in December 2014. Chef John Sundstrom runs the kitchen alongside co-owners Kelly Ronan and J.M. Enos, building a four-course menu that changes monthly around seasonal Pacific Northwest ingredients.
The James Beard Foundation has taken sustained notice: Sundstrom won Best Chef in 2007 after finalist nods in 2005 and 2006, and Lark went on to earn semifinalist recognition for Outstanding Chef in 2014, Outstanding Restaurant in 2016, and Outstanding Hospitality in 2023. Seattle Met named Lark among the city's best in 2025.
Burrata shows up often among dishes regulars return for, and the cocktail program has built a reputation for ambition. A sister restaurant, Slab, now operates out of Lark's original Capitol Hill location, serving sandwiches for lunch.
