Boulevard opened on the Embarcadero in 1993 under chef and owner Nancy Oakes, with Dana Younkin now serving as executive chef and partner. The room leans into a Belle Époque feel — brick archways, mosaic tile work, curved iron railings, and blue velvet chairs — set along the waterfront.
The dining room runs on a set-price menu, while the chef's counter, bar, and lounge offer the same kitchen à la carte, built around regional seasonal ingredients. Starters include steak tartare with housemade beef tallow waffle fries, ravioli dauphine with burgundy truffles, and a heirloom tomato and burrata salad; mains run from filet of beef with venetian artichoke to an Iberian pork chop with turnip gratin and northern halibut with sweet corn polenta.
Boulevard won the James Beard Award for Outstanding Restaurant in 2012, after seven consecutive years as a finalist in that category, and the restaurant's chef won Best Chef in 2001, with further finalist and semifinalist recognition in the years that followed.
