The Spot
Bliss is a chef-owned restaurant just south of downtown San Antonio, led by chef Tony Hernandez, with Mary Swiger and Marcy Fernandez running the front of house. The kitchen serves upscale, contemporary American cuisine built around seasonal, local ingredients, with a menu that changes through the year and a beer and wine list meant to cover a range of tastes and budgets.

The main dining room seats 56, and Bliss also runs a true chef's table inside the kitchen for up to ten guests, a private event room for up to 32, and seasonal patio seating out back. Beyond the standard dinner menu, a seven-course Chef's Tasting Menu is available both at the dedicated chef's table and in the main dining room, with an optional wine pairing.

Dishes that keep coming up among regulars include scallops, duck, branzino, short ribs, an arugula salad, and a tostada, with butter cake a recurring dessert mention. The restaurant has built a reputation as a go-to for anniversaries, birthdays, and other nights that call for dressing up, with regulars pointing to attentive service and carefully plated food as consistent strengths in a welcoming, high-end room.
