The Spot
Royal Tavern has held down its corner of East Passyunk Avenue since 2002, built as a neighborhood bar meant to work for just about any occasion. Chef Nic Macri runs a from-scratch kitchen designed to feed everyone — vegetarian, vegan, or meat-loving — drawing on more than two decades cooking and eating in Philly, his upbringing in Toronto, and his parents' native Calabria.

The burger is what the place is best known for, with the rest of the menu building its own following alongside it. The bar side carries a reputation of its own, with cocktails and a local beer selection tended by bartenders regulars have come to trust for recommendations.

Royal Tavern was named a Philadelphia Magazine Best of Philly pick in 2025, and The Infatuation rated it 8.5/10.
