Angelo's is a takeout window in Bella Vista that treats pizza and the cheesesteak as the same argument, and wins it twice. The Upside Down pie flips the usual order, burying cheese beneath mounds of tomato sauce, and it works because the sauce is good enough to be the top layer. The margherita runs on fior di latte creamier than anything else in the city doing that pie. Neither dish is a variation on a theme. Each is a specific, deliberate choice about what a pizza should be.

The cheesesteak belongs in the same conversation, which is rare. It comes on seeded, crackly bread baked in-house, and the bread is doing as much work as the meat. Most places treat the roll as packaging. Angelo's treats it as the point.
