The restaurant occupies a bi-level brownstone in Rittenhouse Square, split into three distinct spaces: a bar and lounge, a cozy open-kitchen dining room anchored by a chef's counter, and a second-floor room overlooking Walnut Street. The menu runs on pristine, seasonal ingredients, and dishes that regularly come up include black sea bass, arctic char, tartare, pork chop, and a run of small plates. Vernick has since opened Vernick Coffee Bar, Vernick Fish, and Vernick Wine next door.
Vernick won the James Beard Foundation's Best Chef award in 2017, after finalist nods in 2015 and 2016, and the restaurant has since been named a semifinalist for Outstanding Hospitality in 2023 and Outstanding Restaurateur in 2026. Michelin selected it for its 2025 guide.
