Germantown Cafe has held its corner in Germantown since 2003, in a neighborhood named for the German immigrants who settled it in the 1840s. The room centers on a black walnut bar and floor-to-ceiling French doors that open onto a patio, recently refreshed with new finishes but the same layout regulars know.
The kitchen works in comfortable Southern registers: fried green tomatoes, veal ricotta meatballs, French onion soup, and shrimp & grits share the menu with a chicken salad sandwich and the GTC burger. Brunch runs Saturday and Sunday and has become the restaurant's best-known draw, with dishes like the GTC Benedict and Champagne Salmon Salad alongside the standard egg plates.
The bar takes its cocktail list seriously, and the restaurant kept its kitchen running through 2020 with a walk-up window when the dining room couldn't operate. The Infatuation scored it 7.9 out of 10.
