Lion's Share

Lion's Share took over the old McCabe's Pub space in Sylvan Park and turned it into something the neighborhood didn't know it needed: a real special-occasion room. The dining room commits fully to a retro country-club mood, all cognac and garnet leather banquettes tucked into wood-paneled nooks, candlelight, waitstaff in green sweater vests, yacht rock threading through the meal. It could read as a bit, but it doesn't. It reads as confident.

The kitchen backs it up. Fire runs through the menu, but it's handled with restraint rather than spectacle, which means the char builds flavor instead of masking it. The result is food that surprises given the setting, dish after dish landing sharper and more layered than the clubby room suggests it should.

That gap between expectation and execution is the whole story. This is elegant, slightly sexy food serving a neighborhood that had nothing like it, dressed up enough for an anniversary and loose enough for friends visiting from out of town who think they've already had Nashville's best meal. Local coverage has taken notice. The kitchen earns it.
