The Spot
City House sits in Germantown serving an a la carte menu that reads Italian in structure but leans on Tennessee ingredients throughout. Pizzas range from a straightforward Margherita to the belly ham pie with mozzarella, oregano, and chilies, while the frico — Montasio, potato, and pickled red onion — has become a fixture on the appetizer side.

Other dishes lean into local sourcing, including cornmeal-crusted catfish with salsa verde and shishito fonduta, crespelle with zucchini ricotta, and a chopped steak plate finished with farm onion and blue cheese. Desserts round things out with the Tennessee Waltz Cake, coffee cardamom panna cotta, lemon almond ricotta skillet cake, and a peanut butter tahini pie.

City House holds a spot on Eater's Essential 38 for Nashville and has been scored 8.8 out of 10 by The Infatuation. Its chef won the James Beard Award for Best Chef in 2016, following three straight years as a finalist and three as a semifinalist before that.
