Our Take

ViceVersa takes a hotel lobby in Downtown — built for tourists in damp bathing suits, not people who care about a Negroni — and turns it into something closer to a Saturday night in Rome. The transformation runs on a sharp turn, real soundproofing, and a bar program sharp enough to make you forget where you're standing. The people behind it have converted unlikely rooms before, and it shows in how deliberate every detail here feels, down to the Roman hand on the drink list.

The pizzas hold up their end. The crusts split the difference Neapolitan pies rarely manage, blistered outside and soft within, without genuflecting to every rule of the style. This isn't a kitchen performing Italian for an audience. It treats the aperitivo hour as one complete idea, food and drink built to the same standard.

A Michelin Selected nod for 2026 and a spot on a national recognition list confirm what the room already argues. ViceVersa took a dead space and made it one of Downtown's more convincing nights out. That case holds on its own.

The Spot
ViceVersa occupies the lobby of the Elser Hotel in Downtown Miami, turned into a narrow Italian aperitivo bar by Roman bartender and founder Valentino Longo in collaboration with the Jaguar Sun team. The space is built around aperitivo culture: cocktails, crudos, salads, and pizza in a room designed to feel like a night out in Rome rather than a hotel lounge.

Chef Justin Flit runs the kitchen, keeping the food simple and aperitivo-scaled: raw bar items, charcuterie, salads, and neo-Neapolitan pizzas made with local flours that get a 24-to-48-hour cold fermentation. A burger makes a limited, sell-out appearance on the menu, and housemade gelati, spun daily, along with sorbet, close things out.

The cocktail program centers on a house Milano-Torino blend that anchors ViceVersa's negroni family, including a signature Chocolate Boulevardier, alongside other modern aperitivo drinks built around Italian spirits, vermouths, bitters, and amari.

Michelin selected ViceVersa for its 2026 guide.
