Hakuna Matata Pizzeria started as a small pickup-and-takeout spot two months after its founders arrived in Miami from Cuba in 2017, built around a craving for Cuban-style pizza they couldn't find in the U.S. The original Hialeah location remained takeout-only, and this Westchester spot opened later as the family's first dine-in space.
The menu runs Cuban and Italian side by side: thick pizzas, sandwiches like El Cubano and pan con lechón made with slow-roasted pork, and a pasta section that includes rigattoni with burrata, spaghetti bolognese, and a lasagna artesanal. Appetizers lean into the same mashup, with lechón hakuna style, marinated fried chicken (pikki chiki), and truffle honey fries served with a ricotta dip. The kitchen makes its own sauces in house.
The restaurant is positioned as a neighborhood gathering spot, with the Westchester location built specifically to give the family's original takeout concept a place to sit and eat.
