Our Take

El Turco sits in the outdoor retail stretch of Upper Buena Vista, and the setting does real work here. Seating is outside only, under a tiki hut beside a banyan tree big enough to make the whole thing feel like an occasion rather than a strip-mall dinner. That's not a knock. It's the point.

The food backs it up without needing to steal the show. Nothing on the menu misses, and the borek is the thing to order — several of them, ideally, spread across the table. This is Turkish cooking that doesn't overreach, comfortable enough in its own identity that it lets the room carry some of the night.

The no-alcohol policy could have been a problem. Instead it's handled with a shrug: bring a bottle from next door, and they'll pour it for you, no corkage charged. That kind of ease extends to the whole experience.

A Michelin Bib Gourmand confirms what the room already tells you — this is a place solving the tricky problem of good food plus good atmosphere, and solving it without pretension.

The Spot
El Turco serves Turkish food from a spot inside Upper Buena Vista, an outdoor retail complex in the Buena Vista neighborhood. Seating is outdoors only, with the tiki hut next to a banyan tree among the available spots. The menu includes several borek options alongside the rest of its Turkish offerings.

There's no beer or wine service on-site, but guests can bring a bottle from one of the neighboring cafes, and the restaurant provides glasses at no corkage charge. Michelin awarded El Turco a Bib Gourmand in 2026.
