Willow's Smokehouse & Tavern is a counter-service barbecue joint and full bar in Midtown, opened by pitmaster Willow Villarreal, who also owns Willow's Texas BBQ. He built his reputation working the pits at J-Bar-M and Killen's BBQ before striking out with this concept.
The smoked meats program covers brisket, pork ribs, turkey, pulled pork, and house-made sausage links, sold by the pound or folded into combination plates with two sides and fixings. The Brisket Sandwich and Willow Wings round out the counter menu, while bar bites like the Smoked Crab Dip lean into the tavern side of the operation.
The building is a 1920s structure that once held a neighborhood grocery store, now filled with vintage art, string lights, and a pinball machine. Cocktails like the Butcher's Bill — beef tallow-washed rye, sweet vermouth, and Cynar — along with a house-made michelada mix, keep the full bar running alongside the smoked meats.
