Our Take

Superkhana International runs Indian food through a different circuit than you expect, and the fries prove it fastest: a stacked, Jenga-tower pile of thick-cut fries hit with savory aioli and a sweet Manchurian sauce, arriving less like a snack than a statement. The kitchen isn't interested in playing it straight, and it doesn't have to — the instincts are sharp enough to bend the format without losing the food underneath it.

The room matches the cooking's temperament. It's loud, loose, funny — the kind of place that plays TLC in the bathroom and means it. That looseness is doing real work: it turns a stressful Tuesday into something you actually enjoy, and it does that through the food and the noise, not despite them. Nothing here is precious. Nothing here needs to be.

The recognition has been consistent rather than fluky — three straight years of a Michelin Bib Gourmand, a James Beard semifinalist nod for the kitchen's chef, a spot on a national list of restaurants worth knowing about. None of that is the reason to go. The fries are. Superkhana takes Indian food, refuses to treat it as a fixed genre, and comes out the other side with something genuinely its own.

The Spot
Superkhana International serves Indian food out of Logan Square, with a weekend brunch service that runs alongside its regular dinner hours. The restaurant has built a reputation that extends well past the neighborhood.

Michelin has awarded it a Bib Gourmand three times — in 2021, 2024, and 2025 — and the James Beard Foundation named it a 2025 semifinalist for Best Chef in the Great Lakes region.
