The Spot
John's Food and Wine sits in Lincoln Park with a menu built around seasonal produce and simple, well-sourced ingredients. Dishes on offer include a lobster salad with fish sauce vinaigrette, chilled Island Creek oysters with ramp mignonette, a kohlrabi-and-peach summer salad, stracciatella with grilled pita and sungold tomatoes, and a fried fish sandwich with kimchi ketchup. The cheeseburger, made with house-ground beef and Cabot clothbound cheddar, has developed a following of its own, alongside a caviar-topped bar snack the restaurant calls the Chicago Happy Meal.

The wine list runs long and leans into small, often natural producers — grower Champagne, orange and skin-contact bottles, and a wide range of lesser-known regions from the Mosel to Etna to the Finger Lakes — organized for drinking rather than collecting.

Michelin has selected John's Food and Wine in both the 2024 and 2025 guides.
