Hopleaf has been pouring beer on North Clark Street since 1992, building a reputation as a craft beer destination with 62 taps and bottles rotating alongside wine, cider, and spirits. The space draws visibly on Belgian beer and food culture, evident in the enameled brewery signage and vintage advertising covering the rooms.
The kitchen leans Belgian-inspired, with Mussels & Frites as the dish regulars order most. Sandwiches, salads, and a seasonal menu built to pair with what's on tap round things out, alongside a Reuben and sausage platter that keep coming up among diners.
There are no TVs, games, or live entertainment — Hopleaf is set up for drinking, eating, and talking, and it's strictly a 21-and-over room. The bar has been selected for the Michelin Guide in 2019 and 2020, and was named a semifinalist for the James Beard Foundation's Outstanding Bar Program award in 2026.
