Casa Yari sits on West Division Street in West Town, run by chef and owner Yari Vargas, a Chicagoan raised in Humboldt Park. Her mother's family is from Lares, Puerto Rico, and her father is Honduran, from Progreso — a dual heritage she works into her own take on Latin cuisine, including recipes drawn from her parents' kitchens.
The menu includes vegan and vegetarian options that Vargas taught herself to prepare, and her hand-crafted flan is a signature dessert. The restaurant also runs a dedicated brunch menu and a catering arm, Catering by Casa Yari. Sous chef Hector Ruiz, also from Humboldt Park, brings over two decades of restaurant management experience and works as a certified mixologist.
