The Spot
Fish Shop comes from Nicole Rossi and Justin Huffman, who met working opposite sides of the pass at Justine's Brasserie — she in the dining room, he in the kitchen. That split perspective shows in the room: an open kitchen and a busy raw bar up front, music playing, martinis moving hand to hand, built as much for a quick drink as a long dinner.

The menu draws on coastal traditions from the Pacific Northwest to New England, with crudo plates, a Caesar done in the style of San Francisco's Zuni Cafe, and seafood cocktails and towers built around oysters, clams, mussels, and shrimp. Mains run from a Dungeness crab roll and a Nashville hot fried oyster toast to lobster toast with osetra caviar, spaghetti and clams, and Normandy-style mussels. The crudo and the fish sandwich have developed a following among regulars.

Sourcing runs through named partners: Three Sisters Oyster Company supplies the restaurant's proprietary Lil' Savages oyster, developed after the two connected at Austin Oyster Fest, and Monterey Fish Market — a relationship dating back to the owners' time in Bay Area kitchens — still ships fish to Austin via air cargo, a connection that traces back to a Covid-era seafood delivery project the pair ran with chef Chris Kronner.

Fish Shop has been named to Austin best-of lists by both the Austin Chronicle and A Taste of Koko.
