The Spot
Oyamel brings José Andrés and his team's version of Mexico's regional cooking to Penn Quarter, built around the atmosphere of Mexico City street life. The dining room stays loud and busy, matched by a menu of antojitos — Mexican small plates — along with ceviches, tacos, and a list of margaritas, tequila, and mezcal.

Guacamole and the ceviches draw consistent mention from regulars, and the restaurant has built a loyal following in the neighborhood over the years, even as service can slip during peak hours.

Michelin has awarded Oyamel a Bib Gourmand in its Washington, DC guide every year from 2019 through 2025.
