The Spot
Ama is led by wife-and-husband duo Johanna Hellrigl and Micah Wilder, who built the restaurant as a mission-driven, all-day space dedicated to nourishing its guests, its community, and the planet. The name translates to "love" in Italian, drawn from an Italian poem about living with love and intention.

The format changes with the clock. Mornings bring an indoor-outdoor caffè and a Genovese-style focacceria; by afternoon the room turns into an aperitivo bar; by night it becomes a full Northern Italian ristorante. One address, three different reasons to walk in depending on when you show up.

Ama has been named to Eater's Essential 38 list for Washington, D.C., and has drawn coverage from The Infatuation as well.
