Annapurna Cafe occupies an underground space on Capitol Hill, its dark red and saffron walls covered in Nepalese murals and colorful Buddhist prayer flags, a mandala painted overhead. Chef Roshita Shrestha built the menu from her years cooking the foods of her native Nepal, including Newari cuisine, along with further time spent learning the cuisines of India and Tibet.
The kitchen turns out Himalayan specialties that cross into Indian and Tibetan territory, with momos, tandoori dishes, and soups drawing regular mention from diners. A full bar with signature cocktails rounds out the menu, built to stand up to the spice in the food.
Annapurna has held a steady following on Capitol Hill for years, earning a Reader's Choice nod from Seattle Magazine and repeat coverage from The Infatuation, including a place on their list of Capitol Hill's best restaurants.
