Mami began as a food truck serving Osaka-style street food in Portland before settling into a full-service izakaya at 339 Fore Street in the Old Port. The kitchen works with local farmers, foragers, and fishermen, and the menu has expanded beyond its Osaka roots to include dishes from across Japan, served in a casual dining room and bar setting.
Regulars point to the katsu sando, yakisoba, and ramen as standouts, alongside appetizers like buta and pork buns. The drink program has built its own following alongside the food.
Mami is family owned. Portland Press Herald named it one of the city's best restaurants for 2025.
