HipCityVeg brings a fast food-inspired format to plant-based eating: burgers, sandwiches, wraps, salads, and shakes built from organic, often locally sourced ingredients. The Smokehouse Burger, Philly Steak, Curry Tofu Wrap, and Crispy HipCity Ranch sandwich anchor a menu designed to feel familiar rather than austere, including a vegan take on the Philly cheesesteak that has become a signature draw for the chain.
Founder Nicole Marquis, who also opened Bar Bombón and charlie was a sinner, started HipCityVeg in 2012 with the goal of making vegan food approachable through comfort-food formats rather than restriction. The Center City location sits among several Philadelphia-area spots that share the same menu and sourcing approach, with all packaging compostable and kitchen scraps composted daily.
The kitchen and its team were recognized as StarChefs Rising Stars in Philadelphia in 2019.
