Our Take

Sho Pizza Bar takes a real risk with its premise — Japanese-influenced, Neo-Neapolitan pizza — and it pays off completely. Co-owner Sean Brock built the dough around habits picked up from Tokyo's pizza scene, a three-day fermentation that produces a crust unlike anything else in the city: mochi-like, airy, blistered from the wood-fired oven. Toppings lean into that same cross-pollination, country ham and guanciale sitting next to mushroom cream, all of it built to work with the housemade dips rather than around them. The miso ranch alone justifies ordering a pie you weren't planning on.

The room matches the food's confidence: minimalist, casual, a long bar facing the kitchen so you can watch the oven work. Nothing about the space oversells what's happening on the plate, which is the right call when the plate is doing this much.

Don't skip dessert. It's not an afterthought tacked onto a pizza menu — it earns its own attention, and leaving without it is a mistake.

The Bib Gourmand recognition from Nashville's first Michelin guide confirms what the food already argues on its own: this is a pizza restaurant operating on its own terms, and winning.

The Spot
Sho takes its name from shokunin, the Japanese term for a master of one's craft, and applies it to neo-Neapolitan pizza built on a 72-hour dough fermentation and a handmade Stefano Ferrara Forni oven fired with local white oak. The room is set up to put that process on display: a 12-seat chef's counter looks straight into the oven, alongside a dining room, a bar, and a dog-friendly outdoor patio.

A cocktail and wine list runs alongside the pizza, and the Caesar salad has developed its own following among regulars.

Michelin awarded Sho Pizza Bar a Bib Gourmand in 2025, Eater named it to its Essential 38 list for Nashville, and Nashville Guru named it a Best New restaurant of 2025. Sho is part of the Brock Hospitality restaurant group.
